FSG is keeping Deanna pretty busy this summer, but what you may not know is that she’s a voracious reader and always looks forward to the new summer reads. Whether it’s suspense, romantic comedy, or a quintessential beach read, read on for Deanna’s summer reading recommendations.
- Hollywood, Ending by John Green: Set in the intersection of the spiraling weirdness of celebrity culture and the modern attention economy.
- The Shampoo Effect by Jenny Jackson: A group of friends in a Massachusetts seaside town approach early middle age with profound reluctance. Houseboats. Parties. Affairs. Consequences. Rinse. Repeat.
- The Housewife by Natalie Barelli: New bride Jodie Davies gets stuck in a lethal dilemma when she discovers the secrets (plural) being kept by her controlling psychologist husband, Roy. Can you say, messy?
- It Could Have Been Her by Lisa Jewell: Jane Trevally is just trying to do the right thing when she returns a lost dog to a strange address in London. Just about anything by Lisa Jewell is bound to keep you on the edge of your seat, so anytime she has a new book, I’m all in!
- Big Little Truths by Liane Moriarty: The Monterey Bay ladies are back! Ten years have passed since Big Little Lies and the ladies are navigating older children and larger problems. If you haven’t read Big Little Lies, I recommend starting with that first!
- Vibe: The Secrets of Strong Connections in a Lonely World by Adam Grant: The social scientist’s new book tackles the concept of relationships, which is as vast and slippery as it sounds. I’m a big fan of Adam Grant and have been enjoying his new podcast with Brene’ Brown, so I’ll definitely be giving this one a read or listen this summer!
Do you have a book recommendation? Let Deanna know!
